1B and counting: Facebook celebrates as 1 in 7 people log in on single day

I've just concluded presenting a 'Social Media for You' class at Blue Ridge Community College in August.

My students were part of this very significant Facebook milestone of 1 billion+ users in a single day.

Additionally, the cool part was they walked into class thinking they would enhance their knowledge about using Facebook for family and friends; yet they left knowing that they were now empowered to use social media to:

  1. Share their life's passion or cause through Facebook or other micro blogging tools.
  2. Leverage the 'News Feed' of content and by Liking, Commenting, and Following to make their Facebook experience even richer.

These students are now part of the 1 in 7 Facebook users in the world.  Congratulations.

Mark Zuckerberg and I can't wait to see their contributions!
