Tune your TV: Facebook pushes video onto televisions with new apps

Do you like Facebook videos?
"Facebook is rolling out apps to allow people to view videos posted on the social network on connected televisions via Apple TV, Amazon’s Fire TV and Samsung Smart TV.
The apps will provide a more convenient way for users of the social network to view videos on a large screen."

You might want to rethink what you're 'liking' on Facebook now

" While "liking" a post signals to Facebook that its something you're interested in and want to see more of, responding with any other sentiment — even a "negative" one like angry — sends an even stronger signal."

Asheville church ladies like their craft beer too!

No doubt, Asheville wants the NC General Assembly to change a law that forces microbreweries to relinquish their distribution rights after hitting a 25,000-barrel annual production cap

Lotus 1-2-3 "the first PC "killer application" released 34 years ago

On this date 34 years ago, the infant personal computer was empowered to become something much greater than a glorified word processor with the release of the spreadsheet program Lotus 1-2-3.

Finance and accounting workers were thus freed from hunching over ledger books and switched to hunching before a computer screen.

The name "1-2-3" stemmed from the product's integration of three main capabilities — spreadsheet, charting and graphing, and rudimentary database operations.
It could also perform some word processing functions.

Today there are nearly 9,200 software publishers in the U.S., employing 442,000 people in the $171 billion per year business.

Canned Beer - 82nd Anniversary - And It's Greener Than The Bottle

the beer can
Woah.

The canned beer is having an 82nd anniversary on 1/24.

In Asheville, our craft breweries are outputting more and more brews into cans.  Why?

In Asheville, we love green, and cans are green.
"The average beer can contains 40 percent recycled aluminum, while American beer bottles are typically composed of 20 percent to 30 percent recycled glass. But the energy savings that accumulate when you recycle a ton of aluminum are far greater than they are for glass—96 percent vs. a mere 26.5 percent."
